At Edwards & Hardy Roofing, with over 60 years of experience in the roofing industry, we're not just experts in roof cleaning, repair, re-roofing, protection, and painting services; we're also dedicated to making a positive impact in our communities across New Zealand.
Local Involvement
As a company with deep roots in the community, we believe it's our responsibility to contribute to its well-being. Our commitment goes beyond providing top-notch roofing services. We actively participate in local events, support community projects, and engage in initiatives that uplift and aid those around us.
Women in Roofing
In 2021 Edwards & Hardy were Bronze sponsors of the New Zealand Women in Roofing Association and a number of its Auckland Branch Managers and Supervisors became members of the Auckland division of the NZWiR.
RANZ Training Company of the Year
In 2023 Edwards & Hardy were proud recipients of the prestigious RANZ Training Company of the Year Award. The RANZ judges noted “Often we think of the training award as working at the very high end of our industry, but the re-roof & repair market is massive, complicated, and often unregulated. To have an organisation doing this well, in this market, is an exception achievement and a huge credit to the entrant.”
Mana in Mahi
Edwards & Hardy is fully committed to training its staff and supporting the communities that it is active in and it currently has over 30 Apprentices enrolled with Skills in fully subsidized, NCQA National Certificate in Roofing training programs. It is also actively engaged in the MSD Mana in Mahi program and has strong relationships with several community support and pre-employment training groups including the Te Puea Marae and SENZ.
Community Support
Edwards & Hardy actively supports the communities that it is engaged in, and has strong relationships with several community support and pre-employment training groups, including SENZ, the Mana in Mahi program and the Te Puea Marae.
Cyclone Gita Relief Support
In February 2018 Cyclone Gita caused severe damage throughout Tonga and was reported as the worst storm to hit the country since records began. In response Edwards & Hardy arranged, with the support of Steel & Tube, for 4 tonne of roofing materials to be sent to Nuku’alofa.
Christchurch Tragedy
The Auckland Branch joined New Zealand in holding a moment of remembrance in support of the victims of the Christchurch tragedy. It also raised a small amount of money in support of one of its Christchurch Team Members, who had been attending prayer during the terrorist act.
Diwali
The Auckland Branch celebrated Diwali in 2023 with a team lunch. The food was great, and a lot of fun was had by all in celebrating this special occasion.
NZQA Apprenticeships
Edwards & Hardy is fully committed to training its staff and in 2023 had over 100 Apprentices enrolled with Skills in fully subsidized, NCQA National Certificate in Roofing training programs.
Volunteer Fire Person
In March 2023 our Palmerston North Branch Manager was called away from our Manawatu Field Days stand to respond to an ammonia leak at AFFCO, which he then helped to seal. Being a Volunteer Fire Person is not a job for the “faint hearted” – the AFFCO plant supplies almost all of the ammonia for the Lower North Island and seven Engines were called out to attend.
Santa’s Elves
In December 2019 Santa’s Elves, as part of their “naughty & nice” program, paid an early visit to the work station of our National Sales Manager.
Rescue Helicopter Support
Edwards & Hardy have been active supporters of the Lowe Corporation Rescue Helicopter since 2007.
Children’s Church Xmas Party
In December 2019 the Auckland Branch provided support to a children’s Church Christmas party.
Community Christmas Donation Support
Edwards & Hardy regularly contributes to various programs supporting families and children in in need.
Pink October Mufti Friday
Edwards & Hardy’s Hamilton Branch raised the bar with a home baked morning tea in support of Pink October.
The Block Side X Side
In 2017 Edwards & Hardy Roofing provided The Block, “Side X Side”, with their roofing and guttering requirements.
The Block Girls vs Boys
In 2016 Edwards & Hardy Roofing partnered with NZ Steel and Steel & Tube in providing The Block, “Girls vs Boys”, with their roofing and guttering requirements.
Marae Re-Roof
In 2012, when the badly leaking Decramastic roof on Mangere’s Mataatua Marae needed to be replaced, in advance of their 30th anniversary, Edwards & Hardy supported the Mangere community with the pro bono installation of the Marae’s roof.
Auckland DHB Vaccination Bus
In late September 2021 Edwards & Hardy organised for 31 of its team members and whanau to receive Covid vaccinations from the Counties Manukau mobile clinic. By this stage a good number of its team were already vaccinated and the Branch was on target to have over 90% of its team fully vaccinated by mid-October 2021.
Auckland Team Covid support
In September 2021 Edwards & Hardy organised for every Auckland employee to receive 2 food packages during the extended Alert Level 4 lockdown. Each of the food packages had a enough food to cover a family of four for a week – and as per the following message of appreciation, was very well received by the team. “Dear Chris, Tracey & Tony – Not everyone has the privilege of working under people as caring & generous as you all. I am proud to be one of these people. Your support during this time of adversity has been greatly appreciated. Regards – A Grateful employee”
Diabetes Youth Auckland
In 2019 Edwards & Hardy contributed to the educational programs and support camps run by Diabetes Youth Auckland. Type 1 Diabetes is an auto-immune disorder with no prevention and no cure. Kids with Type 1 Diabetes must inject insulin multiple times a day and monitor their blood sugars continuously, even while sleeping. It is a relentless 24/7 condition.
Eat my Lunch
In 2019 Edwards & Hardy supported Eat my Lunch’s “one for one” model in giving a lunch to a kiwi kid who would otherwise not have one. Eat My Lunch currently gives lunches in 79 schools in Auckland and Wellington.
Pink Ribbon Fund Raising Day
In 2023 the Auckland Branch held a Pink Ribbon fund-raising morning tea in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation.
Canterbury Healthy Workplaces
In November 2019 the Christchurch Branch in conjunction with the Canterbury District Health Board invited the Cancer Society to speak to their staff about how to reduce their skin cancer risk.
Autism
In 2021 Edwards & Hardy Christchurch supported the annual party for children with Autism.
Gumboot Friday
In April 2019 the Christchurch Branch held a Gumboot Friday in support young people who are struggling with their mental health.
Movember 2020
In 2020 the Canterbury Branch led the way in supporting Movember
Heart Awareness Month
In February 2019 the Auckland Branch held a fund raising mufti day in support of the Heart Foundation.
Starship Mufti Friday
In January 2019 the Auckland Branch held a fund raising mufti Friday in support of the Starship Children’s Hospital. The Mufti Friday also coincided with the 40th birthday celebrations of one of its team members.
Movember Loud Shirt Friday
In 2018 the Auckland Branch held a Loud Shirt Friday in support of Movember and Men’s Health issues.

In 2019 the Auckland Branch held a Blue Friday in support of Movember and Men’s Health issues.
Pink October Fund Raising Day
In 2018 the Auckland Branch held a Pink Friday and fund-raising raffle in support of the Breast Cancer Foundation and Pink October.
Blue September Mufti Monday
In 2018 Edwards & Hardy’s Branch’s held various activities, in support of Prostate Cancer and Blue September. The Auckland Branch’s contribution involved a Mufti Monday and personal feedback from a veteran team member in regards to this health issue. This support was backed up in 2021 by a Head Office donation.
Quick thinking saves lives
In 2018 the quick thinking of one of our Hawkes Bay roofing crews averted a potential disaster, when one of the team members heard a smoke alarm sound in a block of flats. The team was able to clear the flats and extinguish the fire before any harm or damage was done.
TLT Netball Club Support
In 2021 the Auckland Branch supported the TLT Netball Club which is an incorporated society focused on promoting Maori and Pacifica bone marrow donor awareness.
Oxfam Trail Walkers
In 2020 Edwards & Hardy supported Gary, Sean, Simon and Sue in their 100km Oxfam Trail Walker challenge. The Oxfam challenge is for a worthy cause and the team finished in the top 10, in this physically demanding event.
TLT Netball Club Support
In May 2019 the Auckland Branch contributed towards the purchase of the TLT Netball Clubs uniforms. The Netball Club is an incorporated society focused on promoting Maori and Pacifica bone marrow donor awareness.
Social Touch Rugby Team
In 2019 the Auckland Branch provided support to a Parent Youth Touch Rugby Team.
Blue September Sports Day
The Christchurch Branch’s contribution to Blue September involved a fund raising Sports Day, BBQ and Awards Ceremony.
Waimarama Surf Club Support
Edwards & Hardy have been active supporters of the Waimarama Surf Club since 2010.
Round the Bridges Run
In 2019 team members from the Edwards & Hardy Hamilton Branch participated in the Round the Bridges fun run.
Oxfam Trail Walkers
In 2018 Edwards & Hardy supported Gary, Sean, Simon and Sue in their 100km Oxfam Trail Walker challenge. The Oxfam challenge is for a worthy cause and the team finished in the top 10, in this physically demanding event.
Deanwell Primary School
In 2018 Edwards & Hardy provided entry fees support to the Deanwell Junior and Senior Jump Jam teams, both of which won Excellence in Sportsmanship. Edwards & Hardy recognises and celebrates the wonderful fun and confidence that the children would have gained from their Jump Jam routine and success.
Waikato Girls Touch Team
In 2017 Edwards & Hardy provided team uniforms to the Under 10 Waikato Girls Touch team, who were Silver Medallists in the Northern Interprovincial Series in Rotorua. Edwards & Hardy takes particular satisfaction out of being able to support children in being active in the community.
60th Anniversary Travel Prize
The Henley family from Auckland were one of four winners of the Edwards & Hardy Roofing 60th Anniversary travel prize to Rarotonga. Sixty years is a significant milestone for any business and 1959 was also the year in which the Auckland Harbour bridge opened.

The Tegore family from Hamilton were one of four winners of the Edwards & Hardy Roofing 60th Anniversary travel prize to Rarotonga. Sixty years is a significant milestone for any business and 1959 was also the year in which the country’s first experimental television broadcast was made.
