Edwards & Hardy Roofing has a number of support relationships within the communities that it is active in.
In addition to these relationships, the company is contributing to Eat My Lunch, Diabetes Youth Auckland and Forest & Bird during 2019 & 2020.
Each of these community groups has received a donation from Edwards & Hardy Roofing. However we will be making a further donation in September 2020 to the group that receives the highest number of community nominations between August 2019 and then.
Please feel free to nominate your preferred community support group.
Diabetes Youth Auckland is here to help kids, teens and young adults who have been diagnosed with diabetes. We aim to build confidence and independence and provide inspiration for youth and their families living daily with diabetes. We run a program that encompasses support, education, events and camps.
Type 1 Diabetes is most commonly diagnosed in children. It is an auto-immune disorder with no prevention and no cure. Kids with Type 1 Diabetes must inject insulin multiple times a day and monitor their blood sugars continuously, even while sleeping. It is a relentless 24/7 condition.
But kids with Type 1 Diabetes are brave and positive:
"I prove to myself every day that I can do anything I set my mind to, and T1D is just a part of who I am, and I won’t let it hold me back." Emma Twentyman, 16 years old.
"I don’t remember a life without Type 1. It’s something I’ve become proud of. It’s not going to stop me from achieving my dreams, but instead, encourage me to push harder to reach them. This disease may come with hurdles that are hard to jump over, but every day it makes me stronger and gives me the strength and power to push on.” Sam Williams, 18yrs old.

Forest & Bird is New Zealand’s independent voice for our natural environment. Since 1923 they have been protecting and restoring Aotearoa | New Zealand's wildlife and wild places, on land and in the sea.
They’re the voice for nature in communities throughout New Zealand, to regional and district councils, to city councils, to politicians in Wellington and in the Environment Court. No other organisation can do this. They speak for all of our threatened species and unique ecosystems, from endangered Maui’s dolphins to high-country tussock lands.
Forest & Bird has played a crucial role in protecting New Zealand’s natural environment. They have helped establish national parks, the Department of Conservation, marine reserves, put an end to the logging of native forests and helped prevent species such as the kakapo and kokako becoming extinct. Support Forest & Bird and ensure that there will always be an independent voice for nature.
